Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 Installed Failed to Update.

The installer will fail to update despite repetitive tries.

The solution to this is:

  • Navigate to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Delete the Installer Folder.
  • Close all the instances of Visual Studio (all versions), if exist.
  • Start afresh by installing vs_community__941523033.1489047009.exe or equivalent. Available here.
  • This will install the installer again.
  • Relaunch the installer.

Tweaking the Windows Command Prompt.

Command Prompt, also known as cmd.exe or cmd (after its executable file name), is the command-line interpreter on Windows OS and is used widely for different purposes. It is the counterpart of COMMAND.COM in DOS and Windows 9x systems (where it is also called “MS-DOS Prompt”).

This is the ugly-looking default look of the command utility.
